One new website that I'm going to add to my Personal Learning Network, would be Class Dojo. This is a website that can be used to aid classroom management. It allows you to reward students in an online classroom. Here's the link! https://www.classdojo.com/

I was a sophomore in high school when Covid-19 hit and my entire school shifted to Zoom classes, and distance learning. From March of my sophomore year, through September of my Junior year, we were forced to do online learning, through Zoom and Google Classroom. This meant that we weren’t able to be on campus and our classes were shifted to online lectures. In September of my junior year of high school, we had the option to go back to in-person learning, I went back in November of my junior year. I liked distance learning in the beginning, because I could do the work at my own pace, and was able to set a schedule that fit me. However, towards the end of my distance learning, I noticed that I wasn’t being as diligent about my school-work as I had been when I was in-person with a physical teacher watching me. When we went back, most assignments were still given online, but I was sitting in a physical classroom interacting with my teacher and peers. When I am a t...

Throughout working on the Web design assignment, I was able to attain some new skills, such as navigating the Weebly site, and using many of its tools. Some tools I didn’t know about were pages, which allow you to make different pages that are easy to navigate to by clicking on the top of the page. I never knew how this worked before. I enjoyed the pre-designed layouts that were available to use as a template for my website. I chose one that was very minimalistic, yet also contained all of the information that I needed. One design principals that I chose to follow were keeping the same font used throughout, which creates simplicity, and makes my website easy to read. Here is the url to my website: https://kessnersecondgradeclass.weebly.com/      In my academic career, I have chosen to not use AI tools, such as ChatGPT. The main reason I don’t use them is I get scared. Even if I use them to come up with ideas, I’m nervous that it will come up as plagiar...

For this blog, I went to Palm Beach County School District's website and looked around. They have all of the information that someone can want, such as different departments, academic calendars, employment, student registration, family resources and career programs. When I looked at some of the family resources they provide, they have anything from new/returning students, health and safety informaiton, and even a link to a partnership they have for unlimited free 24/7 free tutoring they have! They also have a calendar posted with holidays, breaks, and even registration dates! This is a great site for parents, and students to use if they have any questions or are wondering anything. While I can't find any classroom information, as it is all private to just those students and families, they have different departments listed which I looked through and found the standards that they are hitting, such as elementary education focuses on the B.E.S.T Standards. I will put a ...

When I initially started using Diigo, I was a bit confused as to how to navigate and what the real purpose of the site was. However, as I continue to use it, I learned that it was used to share online resources and be able to keep them all in the same place. I like using Diigo because there are many online tutorials out there that can help me navigate the site when I get confused and that eliminates confusion. One thing I don’t like about Diigo is the fact that it can be confusing the first time you use it if you have no prior knowledge. I know when I first logged into the site I personally had no idea how to use it.  I personally really enjoy the blogging assignments each week. I really like how easy the site is to navigate, and how it makes it really easy to post and share my blogs, as well as look at my classmates and read their responses. I feel that I have learned more about the topics each week through these types of assignments because I am able to write about them in...

My experiences with Twitter, or X, is not that much. I personally don't use Twitter that much, I instead spend more time on other apps, such as News (on Apple) or Tik Tok. Although I know that I shouldn't listen to Tik Tok for my news, I find myself on it way more than Twitter. I, however, do use Instagram a lot, I think it is a great resource to post and keep everyone updated with how your life and stuff like that! However, although I don't use Twitter much now, it is very important for my Personal Learning Network. When I become a teacher, I will be using Twitter to stay up-to-date with the school district, fellow teachers, and maybe even politics. Although I don't like using social media apps to get my news, it is a helpful tool, but I have to make sure that everything I am viewing is non-biased and strictly factual.      The digital divide is used to describe the gap between people who have/don't have access to the internet. The digital divide can...

For this I chose grade K-2. One of the standards that are described are "Communication and collaboration". This can include anything from communicating with classmates and teachers through online platforms, in a varitey of learning games, or even doing homework with fellow students online. Some other things that this topic can include would be identifying useful resources available to them while searching the internet. This can be in the form of a digital calculator, or math learning games! I do feel prepared to implement this into my classroom in the future. I believe this because I am really good with computers, and believe that if I have to learn something relating to technology, that it will come easy to me and my students will really enjoy the online learning. They will enjoy it because along with online learning, comes more fun opportunities and ways to make the kids enthusiastic about material.  CPALMS Educator Toolkit is a great resource available to teachers with ma...

Copyright is so important in todays day and age, we have to be aware to give credit and make sure that we give proper credit to the original authors. I would deal with these concepts by creating my own materials, and if I had to take ideas from someone else, I would make sure to give them proper credit, because it is their idea. I learned that public domain can be used however they want, this can happen after a certain amount of time, or certain government items. These are all set in place to ensure the proper use and proper credit is given to authors because they have worked so hard in creating these items.  For this section, I will choose academic dishonesty. One thing that I will be doing in my classroom will be implementing more physical writing assignments rather than online assignmnets. I feel as though with new implementations of ChatGPT, it is so much easier to copy and not actually do the work. If we move back to more physical writing on pen-and-paper, it would take ...

When I was younger, in my elementary school years, I didn't use as much technology as much as I do now, but I did use it occassionally. Many of our assignments were on paper and pencil until my Junior year of highschool when Covid-19 hit, we used Google Classroom, then I used Google Docs over Microsoft Word, that is because many of my teachers preferred us to use other software, such as Google Docs. However, I did use other Microsoft tools such as powerpoint, as I do prefer that over Google Slides. In college, I have tended to use Gogle Docs more, because personally I find it easier to navigate when everything is stored in Google Drive.  I did learn something new about the ISTE standards. I learned that they provide guidance for tenchology skills, that should be necessary for success and growth of not only the teacher, but the individual. I think that it is a good idea for teachers to use more technology in the classroom, but should be careful about digital footprint. This is...

Hi my name is Josh and I'm currently a sophomore at Florida State Univeristy. I'm currently studying Elementary Education and want to be an elementary school teacher when I graduate! I grew up in South Florida my whole life, and have always wanted to move up north when I graduate. I have always loved being active, as I am a swimmer, and I love running and the gym as well.  I've always considered myself lucky when it comes to using technology in education. This is because my high school was fortunate to be able to give out personal chromebooks for students to use and this allowed many of the assignments to be done through online platforms. Even in my college experience, I have always used my computer and IPad to get most of my work done. Some sites that I use the most would be Google Doc, Google Slides and Canvas. I always enjoyed doing work on computers and taking my notes on my IPad rather than handwritten notes! My Personal Learning Network includes both online and offli...
